My stay at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort had its highs and lows. The friendly environment and beautiful setting were definite pluses, but the accommodations left much to be desired. While I enjoyed the convenience of the RV setup and the nearby beach, the uncomfortable sofabed and lack of cooking supplies in the cottage made for a less-than-ideal experience.

Rooms

The cottage we stayed in felt a bit worn down. The sofabed was uncomfortable, and the supplies for cooking were minimal. The loft area was difficult to access and quite warm.
Service

The staff was warm and welcoming upon arrival, but I wish there were more consistency in the amenities provided.

Being close to the water was nice, though I did notice the constant noise from the flights overhead. It’s something to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper.
Dining

We didn't fully utilize the cooking facilities at our cottage, but the nearby market provided essentials. I would’ve preferred more dining options within the resort.
Facilities

The private restrooms and showers were convenient, although the 15-second timer on the showers was a bit annoying. It was nice to have access to amenities like the swimming pool and gym.

My stay at Newport Dunes had its ups and downs. While the location is beautiful and offers plenty of activities for families, I faced some frustrating issues with customer service and amenities. The pool was not heated, and my attempts to contact management about these concerns were ignored. Despite that, I had some enjoyable moments soaking in the resort's vibrant atmosphere.

Rooms

My room was comfortable, featuring a fold-out sofa that allowed for extra sleeping space. I appreciated having a stove for light meals, although I wish I had more kitchen amenities.
Service
5.0
The staff's service was hit or miss. I encountered one kind employee from Tennessee who helped with tech setups, but overall, I felt that the management lacked follow-up and proper support.

Newport Dunes is perfectly located for fun family outings, with easy access to the beach and watersports. It’s also under the flight path of John Wayne Airport, which can be a bit noisy at times.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were decent; I enjoyed the wood-fired pizzas. However, I wish there were more varied meal options available on-site for my family during our stay.
Facilities

The resort has a lot of fun amenities, like a water park and game room, but the pool issues detracted from the experience. It's important to note that some facilities were closed for maintenance during my visit.

My stay at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort was disappointing. The resort was supposed to have amenities, but many were closed, making it feel overpriced. While the location is great, I found the family atmosphere ruined by poor management and a lack of supervision. 😕

Rooms

The room was decent and could sleep six, but the cramped sites left little room for comfort.
Service

While some staff were friendly, there were significant management issues. One experience with the manager was particularly frustrating.

The resort is in a prime spot in Newport Beach, but being under the flight path was a bit noisy and the beach access was limited.
Dining

Breakfast options were lacking as the store opened late, which was inconvenient for morning supplies.
Facilities

Facilities like the pool and sauna were not accessible during my visit, and the limited activities available felt inadequate.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort. The location is pretty nice, especially being close to the beach, but the campground's layout felt cramped, and the noise levels were a bit high at times. While the beach was lovely and beach activities were fun, the RV spaces were tough to navigate, especially with larger vehicles. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there are areas that could use improvement.

The RV site was tight and challenging to fit into, which left me feeling frustrated during check-in. It didn’t match my expectations given the price I paid, especially compared to what I saw online. However, we did have access to full RV hookups.
Service
7.0
The staff was generally friendly and helpful, though navigating the layout was a hassle at times. They did help us find another site when our initial one was too cramped, which I appreciated.

While the campground sits close to the bay and is about a two-hundred-yard stroll from the ocean, it is situated under the flight path of John Wayne Airport. I found the noise levels from the flights a bit disruptive, especially in the mornings.
Dining
5.0
I mostly relied on self-service food options available nearby, which were quite basic. It would have been nice to have more diverse dining choices right at the resort.
Facilities
6.0
Some facilities, like the restrooms and showers, were reasonably clean but had quirks like the timed showers. Overall, everything was functional, though the space felt cramped with many sites packed closely together.

My stay at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort was a mix of excitement and some disappointments. The onsite amenities kept my family well entertained, especially the water activities and game room. However, my experience with the cottage accommodations left something to be desired in terms of comfort and upkeep.

Rooms
5.0
The cottage had worn-out furniture and uncomfortable beds, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. The water heater only lasted a short time, and the kitchen was poorly equipped for cooking.
Service
6.0
The staff was generally friendly and helpful, though I wished for more promptness in their responses, especially regarding maintenance queries.
Location
5.0
The resort sits under the flight path for John Wayne Airport, so I experienced continuous noise from planes taking off throughout my stay.
Dining
7.0
The food options were decent, but I found the general store and the Back Bay Bistro limited in variety. I enjoyed my meals, but there’s room for improvement.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities, like the swimming pool and water park, offered lots of fun, but I noticed the pool had some clarity issues, likely from beachgoers using it.
